The motif
The stem is a female allegory in classicising drapery: one hand raised, in the other sword and scales, a cloth laid over the hip. Above it the leaf bowl and the round, black polished marble top. This pair too is worked as mirror images.

Craftsmanship and casting
Both tables come from the same series as the warrior pair and are matched to it in height, bowl and top size, so that all four can be arranged as a group. The sculpture is cast in solid bronze using the lost wax process, the technique that has been in use since antiquity. Every piece is chased and patinated individually by hand, and only then does the final colour appear.
