The motif
The back is worked as scrollwork of rolled volutes, with a lattice panel and an acanthus leaf at the centre. The armrests run far forward and end in scrolls, the seat is framed in a circle and pierced. The chair folds up.

Craftsmanship and finish
The acanthus leaf and the volutes are bent and set in one by one, the lattice panel is stretched from wire. The frame is bent by hand from round iron, welded and dressed, the ornaments applied one by one. Finally the piece is primed and lacquered in several layers, the last layer taken back slightly at the edges so that the surface looks used.

Placement and effect
The chair suits a round garden table, a spot on its own against a house wall or the head of a long table. Because it folds, it can be stored dry over the winter.

Material and care
The furniture is made for outdoors and tolerates sun and rain. Over the winter it should be stored dry or covered, which noticeably extends the life of the lacquer. Small scratches can be touched up with a lacquer pen, stubborn dirt comes off with water and a soft brush.
