A motif from the Art Deco of the 1920s
Diana draws her bow, one leg bent, while two fawns leap up on either side. The Roman goddess of the hunt was the favourite motif of French sculptors between the wars, because movement, grace and a touch of wilderness could all be told in a single group.

Fine craftsmanship and solid bronze
The figure is cast in solid bronze using the lost-wax process, each piece chased and patinated individually by hand. The figure carries a light green patina, the fawns are set off in warm brown, and the bow is cast as a fine free-standing line. The group stands on a stepped bronze bench above a light onyx plate.

Placement and effect
At 36,7 cm tall and 3,84 kg the sculpture has real weight and needs no company. On a chest of drawers, a mantelpiece, a bookshelf or the desk of a hunting room, the slender group shows to advantage.
