The motif
A boy balances on the shell of a large snail, one leg drawn up, both arms stretched to the sides. The snail extends its feelers and the water issues from its mouth. A cheerful motif playing on the contrast of fast and slow.

Craftsmanship and casting
The skin is polished smooth and shimmers golden brown, the shell remains matt and shows the turned growth line in the cast. The supply line lies in the shell and a pump connection is prepared. The sculpture is cast in solid bronze using the lost wax process, the technique that has been in use since antiquity. Every piece is chased and patinated individually by hand, and only then does the final colour appear.

Placement and effect
At 70.7 cm the boy is a figure for terrace, courtyard and small garden. He also works dry as a sculpture, because the balancing movement stands on its own.

Material and care
Bronze is weatherproof and may stand outdoors all year round, the surface develops its own grown patina over the years. Before the first frost the pump and the water line are drained and the basin is left dry. Because every piece is cast and patinated by hand, no two are identical.
