The motif
A boy holds a large fish against his chest with both arms, its mouth pointing upwards and delivering the jet of water. At his feet a tortoise and shells lie on a rocky base. The fish boy has been among the most popular fountain figures since the Renaissance.

Craftsmanship and casting
The patina is deep red-brown and worked out lighter on hair, scales and fins so that every scale is visible individually. The water line runs through the fish and a pump connection is prepared. The sculpture is cast in solid bronze using the lost wax process, the technique that has been in use since antiquity. Every piece is chased and patinated individually by hand, and only then does the final colour appear.

Placement and effect
At 74 cm the boy is the figure for smaller basins, courtyards and terraces. He stands best centred, because the jet goes straight up and falls back all around.

Material and care
Bronze is weatherproof and may stand outdoors all year round, the surface develops its own grown patina over the years. Before the first frost the pump and the water line are drained and the basin is left dry. Because every piece is cast and patinated by hand, no two are identical.
