The motif
A heron stands among roots and bulrushes, its neck laid back and the beak pointed steeply upwards, from which the jet of water rises. The round base plate shows roots and bank soil in the cast.

Craftsmanship and casting
The plumage is chased feather by feather, beak and legs are finely drawn out and kept lighter than the body. The supply line runs in one of the legs and a pump connection is prepared. The sculpture is cast in solid bronze using the lost wax process, the technique that has been in use since antiquity. Every piece is chased and patinated individually by hand, and only then does the final colour appear.

Placement and effect
With a footprint of only 35 cm the heron also fits narrow pond edges and planted corners. It combines well with the larger heron on a tortoise to form a group.

Material and care
Bronze is weatherproof and may stand outdoors all year round, the surface develops its own grown patina over the years. Before the first frost the pump and the water line are drained and the basin is left dry. Because every piece is cast and patinated by hand, no two are identical.
