The motif
A barefoot boy in a hat plays the transverse flute, both arms stretched far to the left, the upper body leaning slightly back, the eyes half closed. The jacket is patinated turquoise green, shirt and skin a warm golden brown, the trousers kept dark. He stands on a flat, irregularly worked base plate.

Craftsmanship and casting
The figure is patinated in several colours, every colour area masked and treated separately; the flute is a separate part of polished metal and is fitted last. The sculpture is cast in solid bronze using the lost wax process, the technique that has been in use since antiquity. Every piece is chased and patinated individually by hand, and only then does the final colour appear.

Placement and effect
The arms stretched far to the left give the figure a clear direction: it therefore stands well at the start of a path, by a staircase or to one side of a bed, where it points into the space. Weatherproof, and thus suitable for the garden all year round.

Material and care
Bronze does not age and is practically maintenance free, a dry soft cloth is all it takes. Because every piece is cast and patinated by hand, no two are identical: slight variations in tone and surface are part of the process and are not a defect.
