The motif
A knight in chain mail and plate armour sits on a striding horse, a plumed helmet on his head, the lance across the saddle, the reins loose in his hand. The horse lowers its head and sets the right foreleg forward, the decorated saddle cloth and the braided mane worked out individually.

Craftsmanship and casting
Rider, horse and the rocky modelled base are produced in sections and joined after casting, then dressed and chased. The dark, almost black patina is lightened on helmet, armour and mail so that the parts of the armour remain readable against one another. The sculpture is cast in solid bronze using the lost wax process, the technique that has been in use since antiquity. Every piece is chased and patinated individually by hand, and only then does the final colour appear.

Placement and effect
An equestrian statue needs space: a driveway, a courtyard, a reception hall or the forecourt of a house. The lance projects far to the side, so ample room should remain all around and the base should be level and load-bearing.

Material and care
Bronze does not age and is practically maintenance free, a dry soft cloth is all it takes. Because every piece is cast and patinated by hand, no two are identical: slight variations in tone and surface are part of the process and are not a defect.
