The motif
From a slender foot a form rises that turns twice about its own axis and runs out at the top into two far-reaching points. The dancer's body is present only as movement, not as anatomy; the open interstices belong to the figure as much as the stone itself.

Craftsmanship and stone
The openings are worked out of the solid block, not assembled; at this height that is the real feat, because the stone has to stay load-bearing at the narrow points. The piece is worked from a natural block of marble, roughed out by hand, modelled and finally ground and polished. Every block brings its own veining, so no two pieces turn out alike.

Placement and effect
The figure needs light from behind or from the side so that the openings become visible as form. It stands free in the room, in a window axis or in front of a light wall, and copes well with modern, reduced furniture.

Material and care
Marble is a natural stone and ages with dignity, a soft dry cloth is all it takes for dusting. Acidic cleaners, vinegar and descalers do not belong on the surface, they attack the limestone. Veining, colour gradients and small inclusions are natural features of the material and not a defect.
