The motif
A gentleman of the eighteenth century, in curled hair, stock and coat with gathered shoulders. The head is slightly raised, the gaze passing sideways by the viewer, as the portrait busts of that period do. The jabot frill at the chest is worked out down to its individual layers.

Craftsmanship and stone
The block brings a warm beige-rosé tone with white veins; it runs diagonally through the figure and makes every piece unmistakable. The socle is cut from the same block. The piece is worked from a natural block of marble, roughed out by hand, modelled and finally ground and polished. Every block brings its own veining, so no two pieces turn out alike.

Placement and effect
A portrait bust traditionally belongs in a library, study or entrance hall, on a console or column. It also works deliberately as a contrast in a modern, plain room, where it becomes an eye-catcher at once.

Material and care
Marble is a natural stone and ages with dignity, a soft dry cloth is all it takes for dusting. Acidic cleaners, vinegar and descalers do not belong on the surface, they attack the limestone. Veining, colour gradients and small inclusions are natural features of the material and not a defect.
