The motif
A reclining figure, propped on one arm, one leg set up bent. The body is not modelled out but reduced to large soft volumes; between arm and torso an opening is left through which light falls. This formal language comes from the classical modernism of the twentieth century.

Craftsmanship and stone
The block is a green and white clouded marble whose figuring runs across the figure and in places looks almost like moss. The base plate is cut from the same stone. The piece is worked from a natural block of marble, roughed out by hand, modelled and finally ground and polished. Every block brings its own veining, so no two pieces turn out alike.

Placement and effect
A reclining sculpture needs a horizontal surface with length: sideboard, hearth bench, a low plinth. It suits a modern interior as well as serving as a counterweight in a classical room.

Material and care
Marble is a natural stone and ages with dignity, a soft dry cloth is all it takes for dusting. Acidic cleaners, vinegar and descalers do not belong on the surface, they attack the limestone. Veining, colour gradients and small inclusions are natural features of the material and not a defect.
