The motif
Ten putti make music, each with an instrument of its own: lute, mandolin, drum, pan pipes, tambourine, cymbals, horn and finger cymbals. Every figure stands or sits on a round base with a gilt band. Music-making putti have belonged to the standard repertoire of European porcelain manufactories since the 18th century.

Craftsmanship and painting
Each of the ten figures is formed separately and painted by hand in delicate pink, blue and yellow tones, the bases carrying a painted gilt band. The instruments are modelled separately. The piece is made of slip-cast porcelain which gains its hardness and gloss in the firing. Painting and gilding are applied by hand after the firing and fired a second time.

Placement and effect
The band works best as a group: in a display cabinet, on a mantelpiece or on a bookshelf. Because each figure measures only 11 cm, it can also be spread over several places.

Material and care
Porcelain is colourfast and does not age, a soft dry cloth is all it takes. Hand-painted areas and gilding must not go into the dishwasher. Because every piece is painted by hand, no two are identical: slight variations in tone and brushwork are part of the process and are not a defect.
