The motif
Three children in little dresses with scattered flowers stand in a circle around an opening flower cup and hold it with their hands. The trefoil base is finished with painted roses and gilt edges. The motif of flower children was at home in the Thuringian manufactories around 1900.

Craftsmanship and painting
Figures and cup are formed in one piece, the little dresses patterned with a fine brush in pink and light blue, edges and base band gilded. The cup is glazed inside and holds water. The piece is made of slip-cast porcelain which gains its hardness and gloss in the firing. Painting and gilding are applied by hand after the firing and fired a second time.

Placement and effect
The planter takes a small potted plant, a few cut flowers or writing utensils. It suits a windowsill, a bedside table or a breakfast table and works in a row with other small porcelains.

Material and care
Porcelain is colourfast and does not age, a soft dry cloth is all it takes. Hand-painted areas and gilding must not go into the dishwasher. Because every piece is painted by hand, no two are identical: slight variations in tone and brushwork are part of the process and are not a defect.
