The motif
The stem of each table is worked as a warrior in armour raising a short sword above his head and reaching out with the free hand. Above him sits a bowl with a leaf wreath on which the round, black polished marble top rests. Both tables are worked as mirror images and form a pair.

Craftsmanship and casting
The casting is that of a bronze object, not of a piece of furniture: figure, bowl and foot plate are cast individually, chased and then joined into the stem. The marble tops rest loose and can be lifted off. The sculpture is cast in solid bronze using the lost wax process, the technique that has been in use since antiquity. Every piece is chased and patinated individually by hand, and only then does the final colour appear.

Placement and effect
A pair of guéridons stands classically to the left and right of a sofa or flanks a seating group. At 31 cm diameter they carry a lamp, a glass or a book, no more, and that is precisely their task.

Material and care
Bronze does not age and is practically maintenance free, a dry soft cloth is all it takes. Because every piece is cast and patinated by hand, no two are identical: slight variations in tone and surface are part of the process and are not a defect.
