Casa Padrino Luxury Velvet Bed Headboard Equator – The Depth of a Dark Blue

Dark blue is the only strong colour that does not make a bedroom more awake but calmer. This Casa Padrino luxury bed headboard uses that consistently: two metres of deep blue velvet, laid vertically into narrow panels, dark enough to let the wall step back.

The narrow fluting distinguishes this model from more broadly divided designs. Because the panels stand closer together, no large interplay arises but a fine, almost textile striped relief. From a distance the surface reads as closed blue, from close up as a carefully worked structure.

Velvet is the right fabric for dark tones because it creates depth instead of surface. A smooth cotton in the same blue looks hard; the pile, by contrast, swallows light and returns it only at the edges. That is exactly why dark velvet furniture looks expensive without having to shine.

In combination this headboard is surprisingly open: it stands to brass and warm wood just as well as to chrome, marble and white. Choose natural linen bedding and you get a calm, almost maritime room; with white and gold it becomes a classic hotel room.

Structurally it holds the usual and the decisive: solid wood, dimensionally stable foam, evenly filled panels. A headboard of this size must not warp, or you see it at the wall edge immediately.
