This Casa Padrino pendant lamp is the fluted sister of the smooth aluminium dome. Vertical flutes run down across the whole curve and end in a scalloped rim that makes the lamp look like an upturned chalice.

The flutes are more than decoration: they break the light at the rim into narrow bright and dark stripes so that from below the lamp reads as three dimensional rather than flat. With the light off, daylight draws the same pattern.

The aluminium is polished by hand and keeps its lively, silky shimmering surface. It shines nobly and gains character over the years.

At 48 cm in diameter it hangs alone above a round dining table or in a pair above a kitchen island. At 7.35 kg it can be fixed to any standard ceiling outlet, and the chain sets the drop height.
