The exclusive Luxury Side Table by Casa Padrino combines a piece of Earth history with clear furniture design: the top is made of petrified wood that has turned completely into stone over millions of years. It rests on a slender black iron base that carries the heavy top securely while deliberately staying in the background. At around 20.5 kg the table carries the rich weight of genuine stone.

Material and craftsmanship
Petrified wood is fossil wood in which the organic material was replaced by minerals layer by layer over millions of years; the original grain of the tree remained preserved in the stone. Every top is unique, with its own pattern, its own contour and its own dimensions: by nature the tops vary between roughly 48 to 56 x 38 to 43 cm, and no two tables are alike. The black iron base is solidly crafted and puts the top centre stage.

Placement and effect
Next to sofa or armchair the side table carries lamp, books and glasses at 60 cm in height, yet it also works freely in the room like a small natural exhibit. The warm brown tone of the petrified grain suits light natural shades as well as dark wood, leather and brass and brings a calm, earthy note into any interior.

Care and notes
Petrified wood is cared for like stone: a soft, dry cloth is all it takes for cleaning, and abrasives and harsh cleaners have no place on the surface. Use coasters under glasses and bottles. As every top has grown naturally, size, shape and pattern vary slightly from piece to piece. Always lift the table to move it, never push it across the floor.
