The motif
A boy wearing a ram's fleece plays a long transverse flute, the fleece falling over shoulder and hip. He stands on a dome from which water jets and small fish emerge all around: a depiction of Pan of the kind that has belonged to springs and fountains since antiquity.

Craftsmanship and casting
The patina is warm brown with reddish heights, the fleece set off darker than the skin. Flute and jet ring are worked separately, the water line lies in the base and a pump connection is prepared. The sculpture is cast in solid bronze using the lost wax process, the technique that has been in use since antiquity. Every piece is chased and patinated individually by hand, and only then does the final colour appear.

Placement and effect
The fountain stands best centred in a round basin, because the jets work all around. The figure also shows well at the end of a sight line or in a niche of box hedging.

Material and care
Bronze is weatherproof and may stand outdoors all year round, the surface develops its own grown patina over the years. Before the first frost the pump and the water line are drained and the basin is left dry. Because every piece is cast and patinated by hand, no two are identical.
