The motif
The greyhound stands calmly on all four legs, the long neck stretched, the head turned slightly to the side, the tail hanging down in a soft curve. The slender anatomy with the visible ribs and the finely worked paws is modelled true to nature.

Craftsmanship and casting
The surface is polished smooth rather than textured, so that the light runs over the back in a continuous band and emphasises the silhouette. The sculpture is cast in solid bronze using the lost wax process, the technique that has been in use since antiquity. Every piece is chased and patinated individually by hand, and only then does the final colour appear.

Placement and effect
Greyhounds traditionally stand in pairs at the entrance, but also work singly beside a fireplace, at a staircase or in the garden along a path. At just under a metre high the figure needs no plinth.

Material and care
Bronze does not age and is practically maintenance free, a dry soft cloth is all it takes. Because every piece is cast and patinated by hand, no two are identical: slight variations in tone and surface are part of the process and are not a defect.
