A she-bear sits upright, her cub leaning against her chest, both lifting their heads in the same direction. The sculptor left out every detail of the fur and reduced the animals to large, soft volumes, the way animal sculpture of the early 20th century did.

Fine craftsmanship and solid bronze
The figure is cast in solid bronze using the lost-wax process, each piece chased and patinated individually by hand. The olive green patina is rubbed lighter along the backs and makes the curves stand out. The group stands on a round base of black marble.
