The motif
The eagle lands on a branch, both wings spread wide upwards and to the side, the head with its open beak directed downwards. The talons are already gripping the wood. Head and nape are light, beak and talons golden, the plumage drawn through feather by feather.

Craftsmanship and casting
The widely spread wings are the structural challenge: they are cast separately, welded to the body and balanced over the marble base so that the figure stands without additional support. The sculpture is cast in solid bronze using the lost wax process, the technique that has been in use since antiquity. Every piece is chased and patinated individually by hand, and only then does the final colour appear.

Placement and effect
At 75 cm wide the figure needs a free surface without neighbours: a console of its own, a wide sideboard, a plinth in a reception area. Seen from the front the wingspan works most strongly.

Material and care
Bronze does not age and is practically maintenance free, a dry soft cloth is all it takes. Because every piece is cast and patinated by hand, no two are identical: slight variations in tone and surface are part of the process and are not a defect.
