The motif
A fox stands upright on his hind legs, in jacket, waistcoat and breeches, one paw behind his back, the head slightly inclined and with a distinctly mocking expression. Jacket and breeches are patinated green, fur, waistcoat and collar stay polished golden brown. The bushy tail rests on the ground.

Craftsmanship and casting
The appeal lies in the transitions: fabric is cast smooth and flat, fur by contrast strand-worked; the patina separates the two further by colour. The sculpture is cast in solid bronze using the lost wax process, the technique that has been in use since antiquity. Every piece is chased and patinated individually by hand, and only then does the final colour appear.

Placement and effect
