The motif
A goblin with pointed ears and a pointed cap sits on the edge, legs dangling, reading an open book with a broad grin. The pointed shoes curl far upwards. Doublet and breeches are patinated green, face, hands and shoes polished a warm golden brown.

Craftsmanship and casting
The figure is cast as an edge sitter: seat and thighs form a flat bearing surface, and the weight of the dangling legs holds it in position by itself. The sculpture is cast in solid bronze using the lost wax process, the technique that has been in use since antiquity. Every piece is chased and patinated individually by hand, and only then does the final colour appear.

Placement and effect
Edge sitters belong on a shelf board, a wall coping, a stair string or a basin rim, always above eye level and never centrally. The reading goblin works particularly well in a library, a bookshop or a child's room, because it tells at once what it is doing.

Material and care
Bronze does not age and is practically maintenance free, a dry soft cloth is all it takes. Because every piece is cast and patinated by hand, no two are identical: slight variations in tone and surface are part of the process and are not a defect.
