The motif
The rooster stands erect, in waistcoat and frock coat with a large bow tie beneath his comb, the head raised high, the beak slightly open. The tail feathers fall behind the coat in a broad curve to the ground and give the figure its stance. Waistcoat and bow tie are patinated green, plumage and coat golden brown.

Craftsmanship and casting
The long tail is a load-bearing part and not merely ornament: it is cast with the body and, together with the legs, forms the third bearing point. The sculpture is cast in solid bronze using the lost wax process, the technique that has been in use since antiquity. Every piece is chased and patinated individually by hand, and only then does the final colour appear.

Placement and effect
The rooster is the counterpart to the fox of the same series and works best as a pair, left and right of an entrance or fireplace. Singly it suits a bar, restaurant or kitchen, where the allusion is understood at once.

Material and care
