The motif
A young fairy sits on an edge, the right leg drawn up, the left hanging down long, the hands resting loosely on the knee. The head is raised, the gaze goes into the distance. The narrow butterfly wings and the short dress are patinated green, skin and hair polished a warm bronze.

Craftsmanship and casting
The figure is worked as an edge sitter: the seating area is cast flat so that it rests securely on a wall coping, a basin rim or a plinth. The sculpture is cast in solid bronze using the lost wax process, the technique that has been in use since antiquity. Every piece is chased and patinated individually by hand, and only then does the final colour appear.

Placement and effect
Edge sitters live from not standing centrally: on the wall by the pond, at the edge of a flight of steps or on a tall plinth in the entrance. Seen from below the figure works most strongly, so a placement above eye level is worthwhile.

Material and care
Bronze does not age and is practically maintenance free, a dry soft cloth is all it takes. Because every piece is cast and patinated by hand, no two are identical: slight variations in tone and surface are part of the process and are not a defect.
