The motif
A winged child sits on a piece of rock, the face inclined towards the shoulder, the left arm stretched far upwards, the right hanging loosely down. One wing rises steeply, the second lies against the back. The round ground plate is cast with it. The patina is green throughout, polished lighter at knees, cheek and hairline.

Craftsmanship and casting
The raised wing is cast separately and fitted, otherwise the figure could not be released from the mould. The green patina is produced chemically on the warm bronze and taken back again at the protruding parts so that the rounded forms catch the light. The sculpture is cast in solid bronze using the lost wax process, the technique that has been in use since antiquity. Every piece is chased and patinated individually by hand, and only then does the final colour appear.

Placement and effect
Putti work best slightly raised and off centre: on a console, a plinth, a wall coping or at the edge of a staircase. The arm stretched upwards draws the eye, so space should be left above the figure. Suitable indoors and outdoors, the patina tolerates rain.

Material and care
Bronze does not age and is practically maintenance free, a dry soft cloth is all it takes. Because every piece is cast and patinated by hand, no two are identical: slight variations in tone and surface are part of the process and are not a defect.
