A woman lies on her side, one knee drawn up, her head resting on the bent arm, her long hair falling forward. The reclining nude is the oldest motif in sculpture, and here it is reduced entirely to the continuous line from shoulder over hip to foot.

Fine craftsmanship and solid bronze
The figure is cast in solid bronze using the lost-wax process, each piece chased and patinated individually by hand. The whole figure is polished to a high gloss and left unpatinated so the warm golden yellow of the bronze itself takes effect; only the hair is finely chased. It lies directly on the surface without a base and is worked on all sides.
