The motif
Two cranes reduced to the essential: from a curved foot two necks rise, entwine and end in two fine beaks. Of the birds only movement and contour remain, a ring and a drawn-out loop. The surface is polished a warm golden brown.

Craftsmanship and casting
The thin, widely swinging necks demand a very even casting so that nothing vibrates; the standing surface is weighted so that the figure stands securely without anchoring. The sculpture is cast in solid bronze using the lost wax process, the technique that has been in use since antiquity. Every piece is chased and patinated individually by hand, and only then does the final colour appear.

Placement and effect
At 166 cm the sculpture stands on the floor, not on furniture. It needs light from the side and a calm surface behind it, then it stands out as a line. In modern rooms with little decor it is the one piece that is enough.

Material and care
Bronze does not age and is practically maintenance free, a dry soft cloth is all it takes. Because every piece is cast and patinated by hand, no two are identical: slight variations in tone and surface are part of the process and are not a defect.
