Instead of a sheet metal base this serving tray by Casa Padrino has a mirrored surface. Whatever stands on it appears twice: glasses gain a second foot, candles a second flame, and a bottle looks taller than it is.

A pierced brass gallery runs around the surface. It is not simply curved but follows an outline of rounds and recessed corners; along both long sides it steps back to form a raised handle bar that gives a firm grip.

The gallery has a practical purpose: at a good 3 cm high it holds back whatever would otherwise slide over the edge. Everything stays in place while carrying.

At 85 x 51 cm this tray is not a side piece but a surface in its own right: it covers a bar cart almost completely, fills the centre of a coffee table, and on a sideboard marks out a defined place for carafe and glasses.
