The motif
A Chinese dragon coils above a cloud base, holding the pearl in its claw and spouting water from the open jaws. Scales, dorsal crest, whiskers and the spread claws are worked out individually, the cloud base is set in spirals.

Craftsmanship and casting
The light, almost white-green patina is applied mottled and makes the cast look like long weathered metal. The water channel runs inside, the connection sits at the back of the cloud base. The sculpture is cast in solid bronze using the lost wax process, the technique that has been in use since antiquity. Every piece is chased and patinated individually by hand, and only then does the final colour appear.

Placement and effect
The dragon is broadly built and low, so it stands well at a basin edge, on a wall coping or at the rim of a water basin where the jet can fall forward freely.

Material and care
Bronze is weatherproof and may stand outdoors all year round, the surface develops its own grown patina over the years. Before the first frost the pump and the water line are drained and the basin is left dry. Because every piece is cast and patinated by hand, no two are identical.
