The motif
Two herons share a bare branch: the upper one bends down with lowered beak, the lower one stretches its neck and answers upwards. The water issues from the opened beaks, and below a naturalistic base plate with reed grass carries the group.

Craftsmanship and casting
Plumage and bark are chased individually, the birds darkly patinated, branch and base kept in a light green so that the silhouettes stand out clearly. The water channel is carried inside the cast and a pump connection is prepared. The sculpture is cast in solid bronze using the lost wax process, the technique that has been in use since antiquity. Every piece is chased and patinated individually by hand, and only then does the final colour appear.

Placement and effect
At the edge of a pond, in a shallow basin or free on the terrace with a reservoir underneath, the group shows to best advantage. Operation requires a pump and a power connection, neither of which is included.

Material and care
Bronze is weatherproof and may stand outdoors all year round, the surface develops its own grown patina over the years. Before the first frost the pump and the water line are drained and the basin is left dry. Because every piece is cast and patinated by hand, no two are identical.
