The motif
A young woman draws a cloth over her head with both raised arms, the upper body turning slightly off axis while the long hair falls back. The gleaming golden torso rises from a tall hexagonal column whose cube mosaic in gold, green and black carries the figure like a pedestal from a Parisian salon of the twenties.

Craftsmanship and casting
Figure and column are worked separately and matched to one another: the skin finely polished and gilded, the hair darkly patinated, the mosaic surfaces set and ground individually. The sculpture is cast in solid bronze using the lost wax process, the technique that has been in use since antiquity. Every piece is chased and patinated individually by hand, and only then does the final colour appear.

Placement and effect
At 193 cm high and 65 kg the sculpture is a room-defining piece that needs no company. It stands best free in an entrance hall, in a stairwell or at the end wall of a large living room, where light falls on the polished skin from the side.

Material and care
