The motif
A young man stretches both arms above his head holding a tool, the weight resting on the right leg while the left is slightly bent. The pose follows the classical contrapposto developed by Greek sculpture and shows chest, shoulders and abdominal muscles at full stretch.

Craftsmanship and casting
The warm brown-gold patina is applied in several layers and taken back on the raised areas, so that muscles and tendons stand out clearly in raking light. The layered rock base belongs to the cast and is set off in a darker tone. The sculpture is cast in solid bronze using the lost wax process, the technique that has been in use since antiquity. Every piece is chased and patinated individually by hand, and only then does the final colour appear.

Placement and effect
At 190 cm the figure stands at eye level and is most effective free in the room. A light background and a spotlight from above at an angle trace the silhouette of the raised arms clearly.

Material and care
Bronze does not age and is practically maintenance free, a dry soft cloth is all it takes. Because every piece is cast and patinated by hand, no two are identical: slight variations in tone and surface are part of the process and are not a defect.
