The motif
A slender trunk carries an upright long-eared owl at the top, below on a second branch the second owl with two owlets pressed close together. The plumage is worked through feather by feather, the eyes set off in amber. Trunk and base plate carry a light green patina.

Craftsmanship and casting
The four birds are cast individually and fixed to the trunk after chasing, only then are tree and base patinated. The sculpture is cast in solid bronze using the lost wax process, the technique that has been in use since antiquity. Every piece is chased and patinated individually by hand, and only then does the final colour appear.

Placement and effect
At a good metre and a half the figure fits beside an armchair, next to a staircase or into a niche in the conservatory. It works most strongly in front of a calm, light wall, because then the silhouette of the trunk stays readable.

Material and care
Bronze does not age and is practically maintenance free, a dry soft cloth is all it takes. Because every piece is cast and patinated by hand, no two are identical: slight variations in tone and surface are part of the process and are not a defect.
